We are Mani and Nooshin: self-made dreamers and doers. We create as artists, innovate as entrepreneurs, improvise as musicians, and bring harmony to people as creative healers.
We have spent the last 18 years carefully cultivating compassion in our lives. Whether in our careers, or our relationship with one other– it’s been the project of a lifetime to envision and build a reality that truly feels fulfilling and full of light.
This is Nooshin Rostami. In my years of breathing art into life, I have been making and breaking many art objects including immersive art installations, sculptures and drawings. My mission in art-making is to craft curious and playful spaces that encourages new ways of seeing and perceiving the world.
My work has been exhibited and performed in the US and internationally since 2010 in venues such as the Queens Museum, Bronx Council of the Arts, Eyebeam, Flux Factory, Jardines de México, Transmitter Gallery, and the California Museum of Photography. I have received multiple fellowships and residencies, including those from Art Omi, BRIC Media Art, and UrbanGlass. You can read more about my practice on ArteEast artist spotlight.
During my decade-long teaching career, I have taught art and design to various age groups, from pre-kindergarten little creative geniuses to ambitious university students. I have done workshops with adults and professionalsI and have collaborated with institutions such as the New York University, the University of Southern California, Urban Arts, The New American Academy, Hudson County Community College, and the City University of New York.
Throughout my artistic journey, I have played many roles which includes a teacher, a designer, a follower of light, a chess player, a mad performance artist, a film director, a warrior, and an activist. Co-Founding B new B brought all these aspects of me together with a single intent: to walk the path towards collective liberation and deep healing.
Oh hi! My name is Mani Nilchiani. Nothing gives me more life than performing live music: That leap of faith across the threshold of backstage to on-stage: from doubt to presence, from thinking to pure flow. When I’m off-stage I’m an interdisciplinary designer, coder, teacher, collaborator, facilitator or a poet but always a chronic empath.
From 2019-23 I served as a Design Lead at the global innovation firm IDEO where I joined and led multidisciplinary teams of designers to deliver innovative human-centered products and services across various domains, including healthcare, education, mobility, and retail.
In my music, I explore transitory space of imagination and memory through incorporating elements of Persian classical music and new genre-bending sonic realms. With my project “Tan Haw” I release music with a wide range of collaborators. I have performed in venues such as MoMA PS1, Public Records, Barbès, Symphony Space, Anthology Film Archives in NYC, as well as La Bestia, Aire Libre, ATEA and Cinco Pies in Mexico City.
In 2018, I co-founded Disco Tehran, an internationally acclaimed live event series & cultural platform, and co-led this initiative until late 2022: building community, co-producing and performing live events, releasing music and launching various digital products including an online cinema & streaming service. Our work with Disco Tehran has been featured in NY Times, NY Mag, Vice Noisey and It’s Nice That among other publications.
